Essential oils & floral waters own production
With our 500-liter stainless steel still, we already produce a large number of essential oils and hydrosols ourselves – and the number is constantly growing!
The raw materials for our "wood species" (Douglas fir, giant fir, silver fir, spruce, etc.) are provided to us by regional farmers and foresters from the Sauwald forest. We gather and process them through wild harvesting. We source our herbs from organic herb farmers, wherever possible, with whom we maintain a very good working relationship!
The branches must be chopped before distillation to break the wax layer of the needles and access the valuable essential oil.
Herbs, seeds, and roots often require special preparation (crushing, grinding, etc.). Herbs can be processed fresh or dried – depending on the variety.
Some examples of how much raw material is needed for 1 kg of essential oil:
Spruce

200-300 kg

Fir

100-150 kg

Pine

Larch

350-700 kg
|
Lavender
|
100-150 kg

Mint

50-100 kg
|
Lemon balm
|
7000 kg

Sage

For every distillation (especially for new varieties), we take detailed notes about the weather over the past few months, harvest time, changes in cultivation, variety, weight, dried or fresh, essential oil yield, etc.
The subsequent analysis provides us with information about the ingredients in our products. This allows us to determine the optimal harvest time and specific production characteristics and optimize them to produce a high-quality product!
